This Labor Day Baby Needs A Nap
We're taking the 3 day weekend off for one of our favorite holidays—Labor Day! If you didn't know already, we at Magzook are expert historians. For our international customers, Labor Day is a U.S. holiday that celebrates all the pregnant moms that are going to have a baby in the next year and go into labor, that's why we spend all weekend eating hot dogs and driving 6 hours to sleep in the basement at our in-law's house.
So for all you expectant mothers the MagBelt is the perfect belt for you. With our patent-pending sliding magnet system, our MagBelt will adjust to every expanding trimester. This isn't just a maternity belt, it's an eternity belt. Just because you have a baby bump doesn't mean your pants should be falling off.
This weekend we're giving a 15% discount on all orderswith code LABORDAYBABY…but wait! That's not all! For all of you new mothers that are excited to crack a brewski open after 9 months of clean livin', we also have our MagBuckle Bottle Openers on sale! American Flag Buckles are on sale as well. Both are $5.00 off the regular price.
Do you fish, ski, hunt or snowboard? Do you like magnets?
If the answer is yes to any of those questions, then our buddy Bo has some great products for you! Sport Bumper designs accessories that protect your car and outdoor gear. They just launched a new Kickstarter campaign and since we know you like magnets, we thought you'd like them too.
Sport Bumper products stick to the side of your car with embedded MAGNETS and are a safe place you can lean your outdoor gear. They have a product for your skis and snowboards and another for your fishing rods, shotguns and rifles. We know you won't be disappointed! Show them some love and check out their project...or just keep scratching your whip. Your call.
Bo is also Devin's roommate, so they pretty much live in a palace of magnetic inventions. Their home has now turned into a powerful vortex...which we think is affecting their ability to do math and speak in complete sentences. On the plus side, they can now bend spoons with their minds.
Have a wonderful holiday weekend!
Love,
The Magzook Team Mike, Devin, and Kyle
*Please email [email protected] for any questions or concerns about new or past orders.
***Please DO NOT send us Kickstarter, Facebook, or IndieGoGo messages —they don’t get forwarded to our customer service system and they’re difficult to manage. We will most likely not respond to them.
*Disclaimer:
(This is actually the reason that Labor Day was invented, don't trust the frauds over at Wikipedia or the Department of Labor who will tell you otherwise. They might try to tell you Labor Day is to honor diligent American workers, but nope--it's for moms. It's really the only holiday that moms get. Because let's be honest, Mother's Day isn't a real holiday. You don't even get an extra day off work. It's just an excuse for the hacks at Hallmark to sell more greeting cards. Which they really need these days, because who buys greeting cards anymore. If I want my mom to know how much I love her I'll just send her a Tweet. Considering my mom is not on Twitter, I'm sure she appreciates it more. Also, I might tag a picture of her on Facebook from when I was a kid. Maybe a pic where I'm wearing an old Voltron t-shirt and some sweet OshKosh overalls. Then I'll write something like "Happy Mother's Day to the world’s best mom." Then my mom will see that post and know how much I love her. That's how I celebrate Mother's Day--not by sending a sappy card. But either way, Mother's Day isn't a real holiday because you don't get a business day off work. So Labor Day is it. Speaking of, my mom said that she was in labor with me for 18 hours--is there any way to check if that is actually true? Maybe go through the hospital records and see how long my mom was actually in labor? Because I'm pretty sure she's lying to me to make me feel guilty. She's prone to hyperbole. But anyway, back to our original point. Labor Day is about going into Labor with a baby, nothing else. Don't trust The Feds! Oh, and the LABORDAYBABY discount code ends September 10th, 2016).
JOIN THE BLEXIT! LEAVE YOUR OLD UNION AND BELT BEHIND!

Hop on the Crazy Train with Ozzie and those wild Brits and leave your tired, worn-out international economic alliances behind by tightening up your global financial standing (and your waistline) with a new MagBelt!
We've recently shipped hundreds of backers their outstanding MagBelts after letting go of our fulfillment center. Other than being a belt inventor, Devin has now added postman to his resume, which is good because he recently put on a few pounds and walking everywhere is keeping him spry and nimble.
International folks!
We are allowing international orders on our IndieGoGo page. Please understand that the return/exchange policy for international orders is now different from domestic orders. Meaning that we will not accept any returns or exchanges for international orders.
CLASSIC DEAL FOR THE BLEXIT
Today, we have a screaming deal for you that was approved by a Magzook referendum, as long as you're good with Black MagBelts and Black or Silver MagBuckles. This is a secret perk, so you will only be able to access the deal through the links below. The sale will last until Friday (7/8) so get 'em while they're Black and Silver and Orangutan Red Hot.
If you have questions about your order, please message us at [email protected] – WE ARE NOT checking any Kickstarter messages so make sure you email us at [email protected].... Oh, by the way, did we mention if you want to get a hold of us DO NOT write a Facebook message, email us at [email protected]. One more time, do not send us FB or KS messages, at all…ever. Those messaging systems are terrible and your kind and beautiful words will get lost in oblivion.
That's it for meow! But if you like bicycles or shoes or clips, we’ve got some friends in Denver that came up with a sweet invention for cyclists. Anyone who has been following The Saga of the MagBelt knows we had to throw our old fulfillment center to the curb, and the guys from Fly Pedals were the folks that helped us make that decision (we are kicking ourselves for not calling them sooner) so we're huge fans of this product and company:
They currently have an awesome Kickstarter Campaign right now for a pedal adapter that instantly converts clipless pedals to platforms for casual bike riding. So if you want to ride your insane Iron Man bike effortlessly around town and don't have your fancy clip-in shoes, toss these things on easily cruise into the sunset.
Don't buy a second bike for the occasional ride around the neighborhood! Check out their current campaign and snag some early bird rewards!
The Secret 4th Member of the Magzook team!

Hello Backers!
We love and miss you and realize that you all deserve a hot, wet, steaming, juicy update. We’ve got 3 main things to go over, here they are:
Fulfillment: we had some issues with our fulfillment company, and now we’re doing it ourselves. Please skip to the end of this update if you are on of the few people who have an outstanding Kickstarter order.
New website: In 3 days we’re redesigning our website and we are going to be launching on IndieGoGo’s In Demand platform during the interim. Our site will be down for about a month while we fix a few things. We will continue to take orders on our site until 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 9th. All orders over the next few days will be shipped within business days.
We're announcing the original 4th member of the Magzook team: please give him a warm welcome!
Shia LaBeouf: The 4th Member of Magzook!
We first met Shia in the spring of 2015, when he was looking for a practical belt solution. He kept on tucking his t-shirts into his sweatpants and was endlessly searching for a highly-functional belt that looked awesome. Mike, Devin, and Kyle showed Shia the MagBelt and a partnership was born. Shia didn’t want our partnership to distract from his career as a performance artist, but he has been with us every step of the way.
We knew the belt Devin designed was great and held our pants up. But would it mean Kickstarter success? According to Kickstarter’s own stats, only 36% of projects are ever successfully funded, and with fashion it’s even lower—only 24% of projects meeting their funding goal.
Before we started, our goal was to attract between 750 and 1,000 backers. This was based on the success rate of other projects in the same vertical, but we still had some slight hesitancy, mild anxiety, and we weren’t 100% sure if we should set it off. However, a few nights before we launched it was clear Shia knew we had something huge and vehemently urged us to “DO IT!”
With Mr. LaBeouf brazenly urging us to persevere and carry on, we had an amazing campaign:
9,707 Backers
15,188 Belts
34 miles of webbing
Most popular buckle - MagBuckle Silver Normal - 3,978
Most popular belt - MagBelt M Black - 2507
Least popular belt - MagBelt XS Green - 7
Least popular buckle - MagBuckle Gold 'Merica Opener – 59
One of our biggest decisions to make was whether or not to keep manufacturing in America. Everyone told us it would be cheaper and easier overseas, but we were determined to keep everything made in the U.S.
We started shipping to our early backers in September and everyone loved the belts, but the big challenge was getting the other 14,000 belts out the door. Easy, right?
During the same time we had Fox 32 in Denver do a news story on us! Unfortunately, Shia couldn’t make it because he was inside a theater for 3 days binge-watching his own movies…but he was really excited that we got to share our story.
We hired a local manufacturer who apparently had 20 years of experience but ended up dropping the ball and not delivering. By late November we were up nights working with a minimum amount of belts shipped and we knew we had to rally. We didn’t get much sleep last fall...
A Christmas Miracle.
On December 1st, Devin took over manufacturing, hired 7 seamstresses from our former manufacturer and work sunup to sundown to get all of the belts made for two months. Devin’s dedication to complete the project was incredible—we were able to complete 80% of the belts/buckles before we handed off manufacturing responsibilities to Finger Rock Outfitters, our current manufacturer.
OH, and the backers.
During this time, we were way behind our delivery date. But there were some absolutely incredible backers that were continually patient and supportive. There are way too many to thank one by one, but when the odds seemed overwhelming, you guys kept us going and let us know that working 16 hours a day was worth it.
As more and more people received their belts, we realized we had some errors in manufacturing that we had to work quickly to correct, but we have since fixed all of the manufacturing issues we initially had:
New Year / New Belts
By January most of the belts were cut, sewn, and shipped, but it took us a while to ship them all out. Mike, Kyle, and Shia stayed up into the late hours of the morning trying to answer all of the emails from the backers who had yet to receive their orders:
Shipped Happens
In November we partnered with a local Denver fulfillment center. We figured that we were having enough trouble with manufacturing, so we should hire another company to handle fulfillment. Before we explain the circumstances, we take full responsibility for hiring them. They were new, but had a decent track record of fulfilling orders from other Denver-based companies, and here is a brief timeline describing our professional relationship:
November 1st 2015 – we hired them
November 10th 2015 – they told us they would be moving facilities in the middle of the Holiday Season (brilliant)
February 15th – they told us that ALL orders had FINALLY been shipped…or so we thought
March 1st – hundreds of backers reported not receiving their belts
April 1st – we received a massive and unsubstantiated bill for their services
May 1st – our fulfillment center finally admitted there were hundreds and hundreds of orders they assigned tracking numbers to that were never shipped out. We were charged for hundreds and hundreds of orders that never got sent, but they assured us had been delivered
May 13th – we ended our relationship with the fulfillment company.
We’ve since collected all of our inventory, and for the last several weeks we’ve been fulfilling the “lost boy” orders ourselves
And now we’re looking forward. Kickstarter might not always be a direct path to success and it is often met with challenges, but we will continue improve our product, our customer service, and our business acumen so that we do not run into the problems we’ve recently put behind us.
We couldn’t have done it without Shia, and we couldn’t have done it without you—our backers. If you’re a backer, you’re a backer for life. You’ve supported us immensely and we will do our best to return that support.
If you are one of the few who never received their MagBelt from our old, bumbling fulfillment company, or need to check on a return or mis-shipped item, please email us at [email protected]. We've been backed up on emails but we'll 100% get back to you this week.
But if you’ve have had the MagBelt and love it and would like to pick up a few more for Father’s Day, use the promo code: SHIALaBELTS for 15%off your entire order until we launch our IndieGoGo In Demand page at 10am on Thursday, June 9th.
Once again, Kickstarter campaigns are not always what you expect and there will always be some hiccups, but we’re very proud of what we’ve accomplished together. Thank you for your patience and for giving us this amazing opportunity.

Magbelts and Kangaroo facts and 15% off Magzook.com!

Hello Backers!
This week we just wanted to check in with anyone who has not received their reward and give some kangaroos facts. So, even if you don't like this update, hopefully you'll think, “Hey, I didn't know that about kangaroos…wow, amazing animals.”
We're still working on tracking down orders who got lost by DHL, our fulfillment center or neighbors who wanted to steal some sweet belts.
Kangaroos can swim!
325 Backers have still not filled out their surveys! If you have not received your survey check your spam folder or the email you had connected to Kickstarter or go to https://magzook.backerkit.com/
If you lift a kangaroo’s tail off the ground, it can’t hop.
If you have not received your order or if it got lost in the mail you can either email [email protected] or fill out this form.
If you have a tracking number but it isn't showing up, you can also email [email protected]. That is the contact email for our fulfillment center who we are working with to find lost orders.
Please give us several days to respond to emails. Sorry for the delay. There is a lot of you and a few of us.
Kangaroos can cover 15 feet in a single hop and can hop as fast as 30mph.
Most people think that kangaroos are solely in Australia, but several species of tree kangaroos reside in Papua New Guinea.
It sucks, but we can no longer offer international shipping on our website. We are very sorry.
Kangaroos are the only large animal to use hopping as their primary method of travel.
No more website pre-orders at www.magzook.com! Your belt will arrive in days, not months! Use the discount code BELTAROO for 15% off all orders until April 19th.
It’ll stop on the 19th because we’re in Colorado, and as some of you may know, shipping on 4/20 would lead to logistical chaos.
We’re patriots to the bone, but it’s been tough to get the ‘Mercia buckles made, so we are discontinuing them. There are still a few hundred left in various styles, so get 'em while they're hot!
Kangaroos can’t walk backward.
Go to www.magzook.com to get 15% off all orders. Use the code: BELTAROO
Now you have some interesting Kangaroo facts. If you want more info regarding MagBelts or Kangaroos, please email our intern Emily at [email protected]
She knows more about MagBelts and Kangaroos than we do, and she LOVES pictures of any of you wearing MagBelts OR photo-shopped kangaroos wearing MagBelts. You can also share your pictures on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #BELTAROO
Remember go to www.magzook.com and use the code BELTAROO for 15% off all orders until 11:59p on April 19th.
We will send a detailed update in a few weeks with all we've been up to over the last few months. And some details about a previously unknown fourth member of Magzook.
At this time we can confirm that the secret fourth member IS NOT Modern Family star Ty Burrell. We encourage everyone to speculate on who the real secret fourth member is, in the comments section.
